The Project
Project Name: Home Break
Reference to a surfers’ local surf spot. The intent of the project is to provide an effective and accessible way to improve one’s fitness and surfing skills from the comfort of your home.

Mission
Empowering surfers to practice and improve anywhere, anytime, by bringing the surf experience to them. Our mission is to create personalized, accessible home breaks that allow surfers to hone their skills, improve fitness, and ride imaginable waves — no matter where they live.
Context
On average (and not considering world class breaks), riding a wave typically ranges from a few seconds to less than a minute, meaning that an average 2 hours session could be broken down like this:
00:45:00
Paddling (37.5%)
For surfers who only get out a few times a year, paddling becomes a key fitness challenge that limits their ability to position themselves in the optimal take-off zone and catch more waves.
01:12:00
Waiting (60%)
Waiting is largely influenced by surf conditions, but it also serves as a necessary rest from paddling, creating another limitation to catching more waves.
00:03:00
Riding (2.5%)
Except for wave pools, no two waves are the same. Since conditions at any surf spot can change daily—or even hourly—finding the opportunity to repeatedly practice a specific maneuver is nearly impossible without spending significant time in the ocean.
Project Scope
The primary elements we aim to address with project Home Break:
01
Paddling
The ability to paddle with resistance, offering an option to increase one’s fitness and paddle before attempting the pop-up.
03
Flow
The ability to move up and down the face of a wave and switch direction (such as when executing a roundhouse cutback), which is essential for controlling speed and maintaining flow.
02
Pop-up
The ability to pop-up before taking the drop is the most crucial element of surfing. For beginner to intermediate surfers, it is often the key factor in whether you wipe out or make the most of a wave. Repetition is essential.
04
Stance
The ability to surf both frontside and backside, regardless of whether you're regular or goofy, which is essential for becoming a well-rounded surfer.
